Alexa Virtual Assistant - Definition & use cases

Alexa is a virtual assistant technology that employs A.I. and NLP to parse user queries and respond. It is developed by Amazon and is mostly used in Echo speakers and smartphones. Alexa was introduced in 2014 as a home assistant to help people with daily chores like streaming music, ordering a pizza, booking a cab or a movie show. Alexa takes advantage of specific skills to perform tasks. Back in 2015, Alexa has only 130 skills, compared to 2020, the skill set has crossed 10K mark. It means with growing times, Alexa is also advancing at a fast pace. Recently, Alexa is also introduced for businesses to perform office-related tasks, such as meeting scheduling, meeting briefing, and assisting employees with their queries.
